Arsenal summer is going well so far with the acquisition of Premier League proven quality in Gabriel Jesus and soon to be announced Oleksandr Zinchenko. The gunners also brought in young raw players like Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira who continues the club’s 2021 transfer policy of recruiting young.

Although Arteta has hinted to the media earlier this week that Arsenal are still in the market to improve the squad the question still remain on who will leave to make space for the new faces. As it stands Arsenal first team squad has 32 players, 33 including the arrival of Zinchenko. At least close to 10 players could leave between now and the end of the transfer window.

Who are the candidates?

Lets start with players who’s contract runs out by June 2023. Excluding Elneny, who recently signed a one year extension, Arsenal have 5 players who could walk away for free if they are not sold this summer or in January or have their contracts renewed. These players are Reiss Nelson, Torreira, Bernd Leno, Maitland-Niles and Bellerin. All 5 spend time on loan last season. As it stand they all seem to be out of favor and the club could be busy planning their futures.

Other candidates include Nicolas Pepe with several club showing interest in signing him. Goalkeeper Alex Runarsson has two options, to stay on as the third choice or leave the club permanently this summer. Arsenal have two other young goalkeepers who can fill the role as third choice in Okonkwo and Karl Hein who are also both candidates to leave the club on loan.

The arrival of Zinchenko also means that young left back Nuno Tavares could leave the club on loan. Marseille were interested in taking him on loan but Arsenal rejected their option to buy clause. However, Brighton are showing strong interest in signing him on a season long loan. Hopefully that one goes through because it will be beneficial to his development.

There’s also uncertainty surrounding Pablo Mari. The 28 year old centerback is contracted to the club until 2024 and spend the second half of last season on loan. The club were in the market to sign a left footed centerback in his position but missed out on Lisandro Martinez who chose to go to Manchester United. Mari’s future at the club depends on whether the club is still looking to sign a player in that position.
