The summer 2021 window will probably go down as one of Arsenal’s most important windows in recent times. After Arsenal cleared out more than 8 senior players they replace them with 6 young players to lay a new foundation. Therefore, decisions made in that window will enable the upcoming transfer window to be just as important. Both Edu and Arteta know that to rise the level they have to bring in real quality players to add the the pack of the current young group. Below I will discuss the positions that need improvement.

Which positions are crucial?

Signing a striker should be first priority for Arsenal this summer because that is the most important position to strengthen.

Arsenal will then have to strengthen the attack by signing a more experienced versatile forward who can operate on both wings. This is to make sure that we have experience in the positing and take off pressure from Saka and Martinelli. This player also replaces Pepe who could leave the club this summer.

The third most important signing for Arsenal this season is a number 8 to play in the left-central-midfield area that is currently occupied by Xhaka.

Improving the squad depth

I expect Arsenal to address the squad depth and quality this summer as well. There’s have been enough examples that indicate that lack of squad depth cost us a Europa League final last of last season and Top 4 last season.

If the club sign the a new striker and an extra attacking player they will have quite good number of attackers. The signing of the young Brazilian Marquinhos suggest that he will become Saka’s understudy and there is also an option to send him on loan. There’s also an option of keeping Reiss Neslon at the club.

Tyng down Eddie Nketiah to a new contract should also be high up as priority because if they fail to sign him they will have to bring in a second striker, meaning there will be 2 new strikers at Arsenal replacing Aubameyang and Lacazette next season.

Arsenal also need to sign a more experience centerback to add depth and leadership to the group. Saliba and the new centerback will join the current group of Gabriel, White and Holding. Mari is expected to leave the club and January signing, Trusty, is likely to go on loan as suggeste by multiple outlets. If the two of them leave the club will have to make a signing because I will not expect them to start a season with only four centerbacks. We need enough bodies in that area to compete in Europe as well.

If Arsenal pull of the six signings they will give themselve a good chance to go as far as they can in Europe and Cup competitions. This will be enabled by the fact that they will have a very good second 11 to push in those competition.
