Its meaningless and for that alone it should be an opportunity for Arteta and his players to redeem themselves. Winning against a top 6 club and doing a double over Chelsea will be so satisfying. Tuchel has been incredible since his arrival in the Premier League, he put his club in two finals and they have been on a great run. Testing ourselves against will great for the future and a win will give us hope for next season.

Team selection will depend on the balance Arteta wants to see from the team. We have nothing to worry about in terms of rotation and Chelsea is the biggest game remaining. We are only playing again next week Wednesday. I assume we go strong and beat them.

Martinelli? Pepe? Saka? Picking Arteta's Arsenal team to face Villarreal – The Athletic

STARTING 11

Goalkeeper:
I will love to see Matt Ryan given a another chance but we might be better off with Leno in this game and give Rayn the remaining two.

Defence:
Cedric Soares deserve minutes and with his ability to overlap and pace to track back he could offer us a better balance at right back. But Arteta will probably go with Chambers is tipped to stay at the club next season. Tierney is still getting back his sharpness, he’s not at 100% yet in position I will play Saka who had a great game at left back last week.

Midfield:
Thomas Partey is our best central midfielder and the one we need to build around in the summer. We really dont have enough quality option in midfield especially when we have to play against top teams like Chelsea. Elneny will retain his place to partner Partey in midfield. Martin Odegaard will come back to play in the number 10 role. Smith Rowe could be handed a rest and might make an appearance from the bench.

Attack:
Martinelli should play more on the left, he’s more dangerous when he gets more of the ball. I would love to see him start in front of Saka. Their link up play was fantastic last season and is something we haven’t see this season. Pepe is in fantastic form, he had a brilliant game and score world class goal. You cannot drop him he has to start on the right. Aubameyang was rested with this game in mind. He’s not 100% sharp as well but he will share the minutes with Lacazette. He will probably play 60 to 65 minutes.

Subs:
Lacazette played 30 minutes last week, he could make another 30 tonight coming on for Aubameyang. Smith Rowe or Willian will also make the appearance from the bench to replace Odegaard, Willian can come on for one of Pepe and Martinelli as well. Tierney might be given a run out again and push Saka up field.
