A lot of unwanted players are out of contract within the next two years. Arsenal will have some big decisions to make regarding their futures. Most of them are out of favour and are certain that they will not be at the club and could leave by January already.

The following players have contracts running out by June 30, 2021. Some of them could leave Arsenal by January.

  • Mesut Ozil (could leave in January if not reintegrated into the squad)
  • David Luiz
  • Matt Macey
  • Sokratis (could leave in January)
  • Mustafi (could leave in January)
  • Dani Ceballos (end of loan)
  • Balogun (could leave in the summer if there’s no new contract)

The following players have contracts running out by June 30, 2022. Some of them could be sold in the summer window.

  • Lacazette (could be sold in the summer if there’s no new contract)
  • Chambers (could be sold in the summer if there’s no new contract)
  • Kolasinac (could be sold in January)
  • Nketiah (could be sold or loaned out for a season)
  • Elneny (could be sold in the summer if there’s no new contract)

The following players are out of favour and could be sold or send on loan in the summer window.

  • Guendouzi (could be sold in the summer if not reintegrated into the squad)
  • Torreira (could be sold in the summer)
  • Maitland-Niles (could be sold in the summer)
  • Holding (could be sold in the summer)
  • Xhaka (could be sold in the summer)
  • Nelson (could be sold or loaned out for a season)
  • Smith Rowe (could be sold or loaned out for a season)
  • Willock (could be sold or loaned out for a season)

In total we are talking about 20 players that could potentially not be at Arsenal next season. Four of them, Nelson, Nketiah, Willock and Smith Rowe could leave on loan. But the rest could permanently leave the club.

That will be one hell of a job if Arsenal pull it through. A rebuilding campaign will then follow that will see Arsenal building a new squad for Mikel Arteta.
